The CTLD SMART Program is MSU Denver’s signature professional development pathway for faculty focused on Strategic, Measurable, Accessible, Responsive Teaching. This structured yet flexible experience supports faculty in designing and facilitating high-quality, inclusive, and engaging courses across all teaching modalities.
Built by and for the MSU Denver community, SMART is grounded in our unique teaching environment, student population, and institutional tools. Participants move through short, self-paced modules with real human support, guided by clear standards and practical applications. SMART also offers meaningful incentives, individualized coaching, and optional instructional design and media support for sponsored faculty.
Whether you’re new to teaching or refining your practice, SMART meets you where you are, and helps you move forward with confidence.

Interested in joining the SMART Program?
All MSU Denver faculty are welcome to participate in SMART at any time. The program is self-paced, fully supported, and open to instructors in any discipline or modality.
However, some faculty may be eligible for sponsorship from their department or academic unit. Sponsored participants receive added incentives, including instructional design and media support, after completing each block of the program.
We recommend that you reach out to your department chair or supervisor first to ask if sponsorship is available. If you’re not sure who to contact or you’d like to sign up regardless of sponsorship, we still want to hear from you!
Send us an email at [email protected] and let us know. A member of the CTLD team will follow up with you shortly.
