ProctorU is an online proctoring service that records students and their screens as they take an online exam. After a student takes an exam, ProctorU reviews the recording for any potential academic integrity breaches or technical problems that may have occurred during the exam. This process can take 24-72 hours. If a behavior or event is flagged as suspicious, you, as the instructor, will receive an email stating that an Incident report has been processed, with a link to view the Incident report. For the Incident report link to work correctly, you will need to open and authorize ProctorU in your Canvas course first, then open the link from the email in the same browser window as your Canvas course.
The link will take you to the specific student’s incident report, which shows the flagged behavior(s) and their exact timestamps. You can then view the exam recording yourself to determine whether the incident requires further action from you or the student. ProctorU will send incident reports if students failed to complete an aspect of the pre-check or if they engaged in non-allowed behaviors during the exam, such as using a restricted resource, talking, or leaving the room.
Note: To receive Incident reports for your ProctorU exam, you must add yourself as an Incident Contact in the Notification settings when setting up your exam.
