Edit Existing Announcements

Course Announcements provide a useful way to inform or remind students about course logistics and activities. You can make edits to existing announcements, even after they have been published, to make clarifications or changes. This ensures the most accurate information is available to your students.

Directions

1. Go to MSU Denver’s Faculty and Staff Hub.
2. Click Quick Links on the top right of the page.
3. Click Canvas from the menu options that appear.
4. Log in to your Canvas Account.
5. Select the Course you’d like to work in.
6. Click on Announcements on the course navigation menu to the left.
7. Click on the Name of the announcement you wish to edit.
8. Click the three dot more options menu to the far right of the announcement title.
9. Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
10. Edit the Topic Title box if needed.
11. Edit the Announcement Text in the larger box if needed.
12. Click on the Available from Date and Time fields to select a new date and time the announcement will be posted.
    • If the announcement was already posted and you select a later date, the announcement will no longer be visible to students. It will post again on the Available from Date.
13. Click on the Until Date and Time fields to select a date that the announcement will no longer be available to students.
14. Click Save.
    • A pop-up will appear asking if you would like to send a notification to users that the Announcement has been edited.
      • Click Send to notify the students that you have changed the announcement.
      • Click Save and Don’t Send to save your changes but not notify the students it was edited.
