Sometimes, a student may need to resubmit an assignment. They may have uploaded the wrong file, made an error in their submission, or need to add more content. As the instructor, you can manually reassign the assignment to alert the student they need submit another attempt.
Note: There are a few requirements to make reassigning possible in Canvas:
- Reassigning can only be done for assignments—it cannot be done for a graded quiz or graded discussion.
- To learn how to give a student an extra attempt in quizzes, see our tutorials, Add Additional Time or Attempts for a Student in Classic Quizzes, or Add Additional Time or Attemps for a Student in New Quizzes.
- The assignment must have a due date for the Resubmit button to appear.
- You must leave a comment in the submission comment box. This can be as simple as writing, “Reassigned.”
- The student must have already submitted the assignment at least once.
- The student must still have at least one attempt left for the assignment.
- Reassigning an assignment must be done through SpeedGrader. Review the CTLD FAQ on How to Access SpeedGrader to learn more.
