Indexes serve as bookmarks for a video. You can think of them as custom video chapters for your videos. They allow the viewer to skip through the video to locate sections or topics you create. These are particularly helpful for longer videos or lectures that cover a variety of topics. They can also be helpful if students need to reference many parts of a video to complete a task. You are able to add, delete, title, and timestamp your indexes. Follow the steps below to add indexes to your YuJa video.

- Note: YuJa will automatically add _edited after the video title. You may wish to delete this if this is the video copy you will share with students.
- Select one of the following to save your video:
- Replace Existing Video: This option will overwrite your video and you will not be left with a copy of the original.
- This is the recommended option.
- Save as New Video: This option will make a copy of the video with your indexes and/or other edits and leave the original video unaffected.
- This option will create a new URL and embed code for the video as well, so if you decide to put indexes on a video already in a course they will not show up unless you replace the embed code with the newer version or use the Replace Existing Video Option.
- Replace Existing Video: This option will overwrite your video and you will not be left with a copy of the original.
