Use YuJa to Create and Upload Videos

Sometimes the best way to reach your students is with a video from you, their instructor. Other resources are great, but your presence in the course makes it even more unique and meaningful to the students. One great way to provide your own videos is through recording in YuJa. You can use this tool to record video announcements/updates, lectures, or walkthroughs of assignments.

Directions

Install YuJa Software Center on Your Computer

If you have not already downloaded the YuJa Software Station on your computer, you will need to do this before making your first recording. You will be offered the option of downloading this as part of the instructions below. If you have any difficulty with this download, please contact ITS.

1. Log in to YuJa (msudenver.yuja.com) using the Metropolitan State University of Denver SSO (single sign on) option at the top right of the page.
2. Click Create Recording. Create Recording window appears.
3. Click the Download link.
   • This will prompt you to download the YuJa Software Station installation file.
4. Run the Install.
   • Note: If you are on a MSU Denver ITS-supplied computer, you will need to follow the alternative method below. If you have trouble downloading YuJa on your MSU ITS-Supplied device, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 303-352-7548 or [email protected].
   • If you’re on a Mac computer supplied by MSU Denver ITS, open the “Self Service” app and install it there.
   • If you’re on a PC supplied by MSU Denver ITS, open the “Software Center” app and install it there.
   • Note: Once the software is installed, move on to the next step.

Create a Video from Within YuJa

Within YuJa, you have the ability to upload your own video file or start recording a video within the software itself.

1. Log in to YuJa (msudenver.yuja.com) using the MSU SSO (single sign-on) option.
2. Click Create Recording. 
3. Click the Start button. 
4. Click the Open YuJa Software Capture button. A YuJa Software Capture window will pop up.
5. Type the Title of your recording in the Title box, if you would like (you can do this after recording as well).
6. Type a description of the video in the Description box,  if you would like. 
7. Select the Course that you are wanting to post the capture in by clicking the Folder Icon on the right. Select Save folder window will appear.
8. Select Location to put your video.
   • Note: If no location is selected, or this button is not used, the recording will be placed in your default content collection within YuJa.
9. Select your Video output(s).
10. Select your Audio output(s).
11. Select your Screen capture area
    • Note: Make sure the video presented in the preview is what you wish to record.
12. Click Start in the bottom right corner.
    • Note: There will be a three-second countdown before your recording will begin. As you are recording, you will see controls in the bottom right corner of your screen. It will give you the option to open the YuJa Software Station in full preview mode (click the YuJa logo), stop, or pause your Recording.
13. Give your Presentation (the software is recording).
14. Click the Stop button when you are done recording.
    1. A pop-up window will appear.
    2. Click Save or Delete your capture.
       • Note: After you save the recording, YuJa will process the recording. This process may take several minutes depending on the size of the recording. After the video has processed, it will be available in the previously selected media channel for deployment.

Upload an Existing Video to YuJa

Similar to recording directly in YuJa, you can upload video files to YuJa and share them with your class. This means that if you are more comfortable recording in another software, you can still record there and then easily share your videos using YuJa.

1. Log in to YuJa (msudenver.yuja.com) using the MSU SSO (single sign-on) option.
2. Navigate to the Folder within Yuja where you want your video to be located.
3. Click Upload. The Add Media window will appear. 
4. Ensure Video is selected from the options above.
5. Click Browse.
6. Locate the Video File on your computer that you want to upload.
7. Click Open.
   • Note: You can select more than one video file. You will see them listed in the popup window underneath the Browse button.
8. Click the Start Upload button.
   • Note: You will see a progress bar appear at the bottom-right of your browser window indicating when the videos are done. Depending on the size of your video, this process could take several minutes. Once a video has finished uploading, YuJa will start processing the video(s) which may take another several moments. Once YuJa has finished processing your video(s), they are ready for placing or sharing to your desired audience. Refer to the “Embed a YuJa Video” tutorial for more information.
