Embed Videos from YuJa

Last updated on July 15, 2022

Sometimes the best way to reach your students is with a video from you, their instructor. You can easily embed videos from YuJa anywhere the Rich Content Editor box and toolbar appears in Canvas.

There are two ways to approach the embedding of a YuJa video. One begins within YuJa and the other stays entirely within Canvas. Both options are explained below.

Note: The video on this page demonstrates the second method outlined below.

ATTN: One thing to be aware of while placing videos in your course is the copyright status of the video. For example, if you recorded the video yourself and are therefore the owner or copyright holder of the video, you can use either method described below.

Currently, the only way to embed videos for which you do not own the copyright is to follow the “Embed a YuJa video from within Canvas Using the YuJa Media Chooser” method below. This will require the viewer to use their MSU Denver SSO (Single Sign-on) to view.

Embed a YuJa video from within Canvas Using the YuJa Media Chooser

If your video is already in YuJa, there is no need to copy codes from YuJa to embed it within Canvas. There is a built-in way to embed YuJa videos from the Rich Content Editor within Canvas using the YuJa Media Chooser option.

  1. Go to MSU Denver’s Faculty and Staff Hub.
  2. Click Canvas in the Teaching & Learning section.
  3. Log in to your Canvas Account.
  4. Select the Course you’d like to work in.
  5. Locate the Page, Assignment, Discussion, or Quiz you would like to edit in the course.
  6. Click in the Rich Content Editor Box where you want the YuJa video to appear.
  7. Click the YuJa Logo from the toolbar at the top of the rich content editor box. A YuJa window will open. This is the YuJa Media Chooser.
  8. Select the Video that you wish to embed.
    • Note: You can search for videos in your connected YuJa account by starting to type the title of the video in the search box.
  9. Click Insert Content at the bottom left of the window.

Embed a video from YuJa

You can embed videos in Canvas through the use of embed codes. This can work for YuJa, as well as other content providers. To embed a video with a code from YuJa, you’ll need to start within YuJa and then transition over to Canvas to complete the process.

  1. Log in to YuJa (msudenver.yuja.com) using the MSU SSO (single sign on) option.
  2. Navigate to the folder within Yuja where the desired video is located.
  3. Hover the mouse over the video.
  4. Click on More in the list that appears on the right edge of the video.
    • A new window will appear with the video at the top and a menu along the left side.
  5. Click on Links in the menu along the left side.
  6. Click on the Copy Embed Code button to the right of the Embed Code field.
  7. Go to MSU Denver’s Faculty and Staff Hub.
  8. Log in to your Canvas account.
  9. Select the course you’d like to work in.
  10. Locate the Page, Assignment, Discussion, or Quiz you would like to edit in the course.
  11. Click in the Rich Content Editor box where you want the YuJa video to be located.
  12. Click the Insert button above the toolbar of icons.
  13. Click on Embed.
  14. Paste the Embed Code. (CTRL+V for PC and Command+V for Mac)
    • Note: The embed code from YuJa is stored on your computer until you paste it in this box, so long as you don’t copy anything else between copying the code from YuJa and now.
  15. Click Submit.
  16. Click the Save button at the bottom right of the main window to save your work.
