Sometimes, when you record a video, you want to make adjustments. Maybe you want to cut out a few seconds of silence or add a text overlay to a few seconds of the video. YuJa has basic editing capabilities that enable you to make some changes to your video. The capabilities are limited, but they may be enough to avoid having to re-record your video or to enable you to improve or enhance your video.

Directions
- Go to MSU Denver’s Faculty and Staff Hub.
- Click Quick Links on the top right of the page.
- Click Canvas from the menu options that appear.
- Log in to your Canvas Account.
- Select the Course you’d like to work in.
- Click the YuJa link located in the left-hand navigation bar.
- Locate the Video you would like to edit.
- Hover your mouse over the Video Thumbnail to bring up a menu of options.
- Click Edit.
Cut out a Section of the Video
- Drag the Purple Line on the left of the Waveform to the starting point of the section you wish to remove from the video.
- Click on the Scissors Icon.
- Hover over the Waveform.
- Click on the Waveform at the end of the section you wish to remove from the video.
- Note: You can adjust where you want to cut from the video by clicking and dragging the shaded area and moving it to the left and right on the Waveform.
- Note: You can adjust the amount of time you wish to cut by clicking and dragging the black arrows on each side of the shaded area.
- Note: You can also set the specific start and end hour, minute, or second of the segment you want to cut by double-clicking on the shaded area.
Add a PDF, Slide, Word Doc, Excel File, or Image into your Video
- Drag the Purple Line on the left of the Waveform to the point in the video that you wish to insert the file.
- Click on the Slides icon on the left side bar.
- Click Upload Media.
- Click Select File.
- Select the File you wish to insert into the video.
- Click Open.
- Type the Duration you would like the file to be visible (in seconds).
- Click Apply.
- Note: If you want to delete the file after you’ve inserted it, click on the blue highlighted area above Waveform that has the name of your file. Click the red remove button.
Insert an MP4 Video into Your YuJa Video
- Turn on Advanced Mode.
- Drag the Purple Line on the left of the Waveform to the point in the video that you wish to insert the file.
- Click on the Video icon on the left side bar.
- Click Upload Media on the top of the pop-up screen if you don’t see the video under Choose Media.
- Click Upload Media.
- Select the Mp4 File you wish to insert into the video.
- Click Open.
- Select which Location in your YuJa video you want to insert your new mp4 video.
- Note: You can choose to add your new video to the beginning or end of the existing YuJa video, insert it in the middle, or you can choose to override a segment of the YuJa video.
- Note: If you want to delete the file after you’ve inserted it, click on the blue highlighted area above Waveform that has the name of your file. Click the red remove button.
Insert a Watermark or Overlay to Your Video
- Turn on Advanced Mode.
- Click on the Watermark icon on the left side bar.
- Click Upload Media.
- Click Select File.
- Select the Image you wish to insert as a watermark or overlay into the video.
- Click Open.
- Select whether you want the Watermark to Appear throughout the Entire Video or Only a Portion.
- Note: If you prefer to insert the watermark into only one segment of the video, drag the purple line on the left of the Waveform to the point in the video that you wish to insert the watermark before you click on the Add Watermark or Overlay icon.
- Type in the Duration (in seconds) that you want the watermark/overlay to appear, if you haven’t selected to have it appear throughout the entire video.
- Click and drag the Image to where you want it to appear on the video as a watermark/overlay.
- Note: If you want to delete the image rather than insert it, click delete on the bottom left of the image.
Insert Virtual Background to Your Video.
- Turn on Advanced Mode.
- Click on the Background icon on the menu to the left.
- Click Upload Media.
- Click the arrows to select the stream to add your virtual background to.
- Click Apply.
- Note: The video may take several minutes depending on the length of the recording to process the preview of the virtual background.
Insert a Blur or Blackout Region to Your Video
- Turn on Advanced Mode.
- Click on the Blur icon on the left side bar.
- Drag the Purple Line on the left of the Waveform to the point in the video that you wish to blur or blackout.
- Choose whether you want to Blackout the entire video.
- If you don’t select this, the video will blur instead of blackout.
- Type in the Duration that you would like the blur or blackout to appear.
- Click Apply.
- Move the Shaded Box, as necessary.
Add Text Overlay to Your Video
- Drag the Purple Line on the left of the Waveform to the point in the video that you wish to add your text overlay.
- Click on the icon with Text icon on the left side bar.
- Type the Text that you would like to overlay the video image.
- Select a Font Size.
- Add a Duration (in seconds) that you wish the text to appear on the video.
- Click Apply.
- Move the Text on the video preview to the location you want the text to appear on the video.
- To adjust the text, font size, or duration the text appears, you can either double-click the Shaded Area called “Text” above the Waveform or you can select the text on the video preview and click on “Settings.”
Save Video after Editing
- Click Save at the top right of the screen.
- Type the Title of your newly edited video (i.e., Video_edited) to save the new version of your video.
- Note: If you save the edited video under a separate name, your original video will remain intact while the edited video saves your editing.
- Add a Description, if desired.
- Select Update Transcript with Caption Edits.
- Click Save as New Video or Replace Existing Video.
- Note: If select Save as New Video, your original video will remain intact while the edited video saves your editing.
