YuJa Discussions from a Student Perspective

Students will interact with YuJa discussions very similarly to how faculty does. The steps below outline how students will use YuJa to contribute to a Canvas discussion. The video illustrates how the discussion looks and works from the student perspective.

Install YuJa Software Capture

For best results, students should download YuJa Software Capture prior to following the steps below.

  1. Log in to YuJa (msudenver.yuja.com) using the MSUD SSO (single sign-on) option.
  2. Click Create Recording. The Create Recording window appears.
  3. Click the Download link.
  4. This will prompt you to Download the YuJa Software Station installation file.
  5. Run the Install File.
    • Note: If you are on an MSU Denver ITS-supplied computer, you will need to follow the alternative method below. If you have trouble downloading YuJa on your MSU ITS-Supplied device, please go to the MSU Denver ITS Client Portal.
      • If you’re on a Mac computer supplied by MSU Denver ITS, open the Self Service app and install it there.
      • If you’re on a PC supplied by MSU Denver ITS, open the Software Center app and install it there.

Participate in Visual Discussions Using YuJa

  1. Log in to Canvas.
  2. Select the Course you are participating in.
  3. Click the name of the Discussion.
  4. Review the Video/Prompt.
  5. Click Reply.
  6. Click the YuJa Button above the rich content editor.
  7. Click Record.
  8. Select Video, Audio, and Screen Inputs, as necessary.
  9. Click Start.
  10. Record your Video.
  11. Click Stop in the bottom right.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Wait until the Video Appears in the YuJa List (approx 2-5 minutes).
  14. Click the Video and scroll down and click the Insert button. The video will now appear in the rich content editor text box for your reply.
  15. Click Post Reply.
